Hi again y'all,
Hope you're doing well with all the craziness going on in the world right now. I've been doing some more writing lately on Tumbleweeds and Trailblazers, and we're making good progress! I've written about 1/4 or 1/3 of the first draft for the story and we're at about 15,000 words and counting. In the most recent chapters, Cassie finds a new job, confronts a wealthy enemy who has strange ties to her past, and finds an unorthodox way to work her way out of trouble before it's too late.
To give a preview of what I've been working on, I thought I would share a little about our brash and stubborn heroine, Cassie, in her own words! Enjoy the excerpt below :)
The deputy behind the desk was giving me a strange look the whole time, but he didn’t ask any questions. Probably wondering what the hell a woman in jeans is doing with a rifle in a town like this. Wouldn’t be the first time. By this point, I was used to getting the occasional odd stare or being the only woman dressed for practicality over style in the room. All I got to say is, it’s awful hard to ride a horse well in a skirt and petticoats…trust me, I’ve tried it. The same went for traveling armed – when you’ve spent as much time on the road as I have, you don’t go out unprepared. There was one woman I knew who could defend herself with anything at hand if she had to, and that was my mother. She taught me well, and that’s how I’m still alive to tell you this story, see?
See you all next time, and stay tuned for more of Cassie's adventures!
